Frequently Asked
Questions

Straight answers to the questions most UK business owners ask before getting a new website.

How much does a website cost in the UK?+

A professionally built website in the UK typically costs anywhere from £299 for a clean, fast brochure site up to £800+ for e-commerce or booking systems. At Sharp Deploy, packages start at £299 for the Launch tier — a fully mobile-optimised, SEO-ready site with up to 5 pages. There are no monthly agency fees or hidden costs; you pay once and own your site outright. The best way to know exactly what your project will cost is to request a free mockup — I'll recommend the right package for your goals.

How long does it take to build a website?+

Most Sharp Deploy projects go from approved mockup to live site in 7–14 days. The timeline depends mainly on how quickly content (text, images, logo) is provided and how many revision rounds are needed. E-commerce and booking system builds typically take 2–3 weeks. I'll give you a clear, realistic timeline before work begins — nothing goes live until you're completely happy with it.

Do I need a website or just a Google Business Profile?+

For most UK businesses, you need both — but they do different jobs. A Google Business Profile helps local customers find you on Maps and in local search results, and it's free to set up. A website gives you full control over your brand, showcases your services in depth, and converts visitors into enquiries or sales. A website also strengthens your Google Business Profile — Google trusts businesses more when they have a professional, fast-loading site behind them. If budget is tight, start with a Launch site and Google Business Profile setup together.

What's the difference between WordPress and a custom-built site?+

WordPress is a content management system that powers a huge proportion of the web — it's flexible but often bloated, slow, and a frequent target for hackers if not maintained. Sharp Deploy sites are built with Next.js, a modern framework used by some of the world's fastest websites. This means your site loads faster, scores higher on Google's Core Web Vitals, and has a much smaller attack surface. You still get an easy-to-use CMS for updating content yourself — just without the performance penalty that WordPress typically brings.

Can my website be found on Google straight away?+

Every Sharp Deploy site includes SEO foundations — proper meta tags, a sitemap, fast loading speeds, and clean semantic code — which gives Google everything it needs to index your site quickly. That said, ranking competitively for your target keywords takes time; new sites typically start appearing in search results within a few weeks, with stronger rankings building over the following months. For faster local visibility, pairing your site with a Google Business Profile setup gives you the best start. An SEO audit add-on is also available if you want a deeper strategy.

What happens if I want changes after my site goes live?+

Every project includes 30 days of post-launch support, so if anything needs tweaking in the first month, just get in touch. After that, you have two options: return for one-off updates at a flat content fee (£49–£79 per request), or sign up for a monthly care plan (from £29/month) which covers ongoing maintenance, security updates, and content changes. You'll never be left on your own — Sharp Deploy is built around long-term relationships, not one-off transactions.
